3 easy ways to drive traffic to your blog

(For the purpose of this article, I refer to wellness coaches as that's the niche I serve)

Most wellness coaches understand the power of blogging.

It brings you new audiences.

It helps link you with other wellness coaches with similar goals and allows for collaboration opportunities.

It serves to position you as an authority in your field.

A lot of you are really great at writing blog content! But then came SEO, and it's as if all that content writing came to a screeching halt.

Because your blogs weren't getting nearly as good traffic as before. And it seems there was so much to learn about SEO for blogging to generate the same kind of traffic.

Here's the thing. Yes SEO can be hard (God knows that online course you took made things a lot more confusing than you began with)

But there IS a few things completely in your control that could also drive traffic to your blogs.

I'm covering them below:

1) Shout about them on socials

Yeah, I know. A bit of a no-brainer innit?

BUT you'd be surprised how many wellness coaches I see that paste a link on their Stories about the blog...and call it a day.

Nope, nope sister that is barely a smudge to your blog traffic.

I typically recommend my clients, tease the blog before it's out for a couple of days.

Then link it when it does come out, but not once. You've got to be doing this at least 3-4 times the week it comes out.

AND then ask your audience on socials what questions they have about it, answer those questions while also linking the article again as reference. Doing it with strategy like this helps will help you drive traffic to your blog.

(Pro tip: The questions from your audience then becomes new blog content ๐Ÿ˜œ)

2) Email your list about it

I know, another no-brainer innit? But what do you think I see? A LOT of wellness coaches mention it often in the P/S of the email and then drip it.

No ma'am, let's get the email list talking about it too! How do you do this? Glad you asked!

A similar method of teasing, but this time (because you KNOW your email subscribers are your warmest leads) ask them what else could be included in the blog. If you've got an engaged list you're going to get some responses.

Try to incorporate as many things as possible in the blog. Otherwise - hello, next week's blog post! ๐Ÿค“

Once you've published the blog and are sharing it with your email list, thank subscribers Patty and Dolores for providing such helpful input (this makes your other subscribers want to be the next Patty and Dolores๐Ÿ˜‰) and share an extra golden nugget on the topic exclusive only to your email list. ASK them to share the blog to anyone they think could benefit.

And don't forget you can always link back to blogs you've written in all future emails as long as it's relevant.

This keeps the blog reader count still going even after the blog has been out for 2 months. How's that for driving traffic to your blog?

3) Mention your blogs when you appear on podcasts or speaking engagements

I mentioned above that blogging opens up opportunities for collaborations. Use that to your advantage and point people to helpful articles that you've written on the topic.

We all have preferences in the way we consume information and you'll be targeting the 'reading' crowd with this one. And once a new reader is on your site then it's up to your well-written content to make them browse around, look for more information or follow you on socials for more.

Also, don't forget to ask that the podcast host includes a link to your blog in the show notes. If the podcast host is also a blogger, even better! there's an opportunity for an external link right there. Add the podcast episode link to your blog and get your link on their blog - what a win for exposure!

So am I saying ignore SEO? No, not at all, and please don't.

Everyone who has a website with blogs definitely needs to wrap their head around SEO or outsource it ๐Ÿ˜‰ but in the meantime don't forget that you can also help bump up your traffic a little with these 3 simple ways.

If you've got questions around this, shoot me an email! Happy to answer them - and maybe turn it into a post too๐Ÿ˜œ
